Personnel from the Argentine Naval Prefecture seized over 115 kilograms of narcotics during an operation carried out in the Misiones town of Corpus, as a result of investigation and surveillance tasks developed by the Force.
The procedure began when agents from the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Delegation of the Puerto Maní Prefecture, based on prior information about a possible entry of illegal merchandise into the country, deployed an observation post at a strategic point in the area.
During surveillance, and using a thermal camera, the Institution's personnel detected a motorboat crossing the Paraná River from the Paraguayan coast towards Argentine territory, at kilometer 1669.8, near the Ñacanguazú Stream.
Upon arriving at the Argentine coast, the occupants of the boat threw several packages and immediately returned to the neighboring country.
Given this situation, agents of the national Maritime Authority headed to the location, where they found six abandoned packages on the coast. Upon inspecting them, they confirmed that they contained marijuana buds and bricks, with a total weight exceeding 115 kilograms.
The seized drugs were valued at over 410 million pesos.
The Public Prosecutor's Office, led by Dr. Viviana Alejandra Vallejos, is intervening in the case.
