The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) completed the sanitary certification of the first export of greasy sheep wool from the province of Río Negro destined for the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, for textile industrialization.
The shipment consisted of a total of 75 bales, totaling 14,850 net kilograms (15,000 gross kilograms) of greasy sheep wool (Ovis aries), originating from Official Establishment N° 5508 located in the Río Negro locality, while the exporting company responsible for the commercial operation is ALTECAL S.A.
The official certification endorsed that the consignment complied with international sanitary requirements, confirming that the product originates from animals born and raised in Argentina, a country recognized by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) as free of foot-and-mouth disease.
Likewise, it was verified that the wool comes from flocks without restrictions due to anthrax or sheep or goat pox, and that it is free of scabies and sheep keds.
The cargo was conditioned and sealed under official veterinary supervision in the land transport carrying the load to its destination, in an itinerary that includes transfer to the Pattern Warehouse in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, for its subsequent exit through the Gualeguaychú-Fray Bentos border crossing with final destination Uruguay.
The task of inspection and certification of this first shipment of its kind was carried out by the professional team of the Agri-Food Safety and Quality Coordination of SENASA's Patagonia Norte Regional Center.
