Brasília, 10/20/2026 – The National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), through its Superintendence of ESG and Innovation (SESGI), invites stakeholders in the port sector to share outstanding initiatives in the environmental, social, governance, and innovation areas.
Contributions may be included in the ESG and Innovation Best Practices Newsletter, a publication being developed by the Agency to give visibility to already implemented experiences and encourage the adoption of innovative solutions in the sector.
Participation is voluntary, and interested parties have until November 13, 2026, to submit their initiatives via an electronic form.
The newsletter seeks to gather concrete examples of best practices, recognize sector agents who already invest in innovation, and stimulate the sharing of knowledge and experiences. The publication will also address the history of innovation in the port sector, including challenges faced in Brazil and national and international experiences.
Which initiatives can participate?
Best practices may cover four thematic areas:
Increased efficiency: initiatives that incorporate innovation to improve port processes and operations, such as automation, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), predictive maintenance, and intermodal integration.
Environmental innovation: actions related to biodiversity protection, pollution reduction, climate resilience, energy transition, and innovative infrastructure solutions, including nature-based solutions.
Social innovation: projects focused on professional training, occupational health and safety, diversity, leadership development, and strengthening the port-city relationship.
Governance innovation: practices related to transparency, integrity, accountability, audits, corruption prevention, and port risk management.
To participate, initiatives must be innovative or aligned with ESG principles (environmental, social, and governance). Practices already well-known in the sector, those resulting exclusively from normative obligations, or those part of usual operational activities will not be selected.
How to participate?
Interested parties must complete the electronic form, providing information about the best practices developed. Each form allows the registration of up to five initiatives, but there is no limit to the number of practices that can be submitted.
If an initiative is not covered by the examples presented in the questionnaire, it can still be submitted, provided it meets the project criteria.
Submission deadline: November 13, 2026.
Access the form and share your ESG and innovation best practices.
For questions, interested parties can contact sesgi@antaq.gov.br.
Sharing experiences
The purpose of the newsletter is to broaden access to knowledge about ESG and innovation in the port sector, through the dissemination of experiences that can inspire new initiatives.
The material will be informative and educational, without establishing new obligations or regulatory requirements. The initiative also complements other ANTAQ actions aimed at encouraging and valuing best practices in the sector, such as the ANTAQ Award.
By gathering experiences from different port agents, the Agency seeks to stimulate knowledge exchange and contribute to the dissemination of innovative, sustainable, and socially responsible solutions.
