Itatinga Plant Transmission Returns After Passage of Oversized Cargo
The Port of Santos has re-established its power supply from the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant, which had been disconnected on the morning of Tuesday, September 29, for the passage of the vessel Zhen Hua, carrying gantry cranes for the DP World terminal. A gantry crane is a type of crane that transports containers from the quay to the ships.
The scheduled shutdown of the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant's transmission was a preventive safety measure due to the height of the ship's cargo, as the power line passes over the navigation channel. After the vessel's passage, which occurred without incident, the plant's power distribution was resumed.
The Port did not experience a power outage, as electricity was supplied by CPFL's distribution system.
