Manta Port Terminal (TPM) has commenced the expansion works for the area known as Patio 600. This project will increase the port's storage capacity, as well as strengthen the efficiency of its operations and services within the facility.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Ecuador's Vice Minister of Transport Services, Byron Franco, as well as provincial and port authorities from this Ecuadorian locality.
The initiative involves an investment exceeding USD 2.3 million and will be executed over an area of approximately three hectares, with an estimated completion period of 180 days.
According to information provided by TPM, the expansion will provide greater capacity for cargo storage and handling, contributing to the strengthening of the infrastructure and the range of services offered by the Manabí terminal.
Employment
In addition to the operational component, the project will have an impact on job creation in Manta. During the execution of the works, approximately 300 direct jobs are expected to be created, which will be entirely filled by labor from the province of Manabí.
Furthermore, more than 600 indirect jobs will be added, through which the initiative seeks to generate a positive effect on the local economic activity.
Environment
The project has a valid environmental permit and includes the implementation of monitoring and control measures during the execution of the works, aimed at preventing and reducing potential impacts on the environment and marine fauna.
Among the announced measures, the installation of special luminaires designed to prevent light dispersion stands out, with the aim of reducing possible effects on species inhabiting natural areas near the port.
With the expansion of Patio 600, the Port of Manta seeks to increase its operational capacity and support the growth of port activity, linking infrastructure development with job creation and measures aimed at protecting the environment.
