Gijón and Nantes Present Motorway of the Sea at Connecting Europe Days 2026

The Port Authority of Gijón and the Port of Nantes Saint-Nazaire presented their Motorway of the Sea project in Brussels, a cross-border Ro-Pax connection scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028. According to the feasibility study, the route is expected to achieve 70% occupancy and prevent 17,500 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, saving 7.5 million euros in external costs by diverting 25,000 trucks from the Atlantic Corridor.
