Santander, October 30, 2026. The Port Authority of Santander (APS) will begin paving works next Monday, November 2, on the south road of the Actimarsa industrial estate, on Fragata street, one of the main roads of the Raos industrial estate, in the municipality of Camargo.
The objective, as explained by the president of the APS, César Díaz, is "to improve the circulation and safety conditions of one of the most important roads in the business park", which serves numerous companies and also constitutes "the main access to the Marina del Cantábrico marina."
Díaz justified the need for this intervention due to the "deterioration of the road surface" caused by wear and tear from the passage of time and continuous use, "especially due to the frequent transit of heavy vehicles, characteristic of the industrial environment." "We are constantly working on the improvement and conservation of our infrastructures, especially those that are used daily by companies, workers, and residents", he pointed out.
The action, whose planning and execution have already been reported to the owners' community of the industrial estate, will be carried out on a road 1,800 meters long and 12 meters wide, covering a total pavement area of 21,200 m².
The works will be executed by Servicios y Obras del Norte, S.A. (SENOR), for an award amount of 643,192 euros and an estimated execution period of three months.
The work will be carried out in phases, advancing from east to west and by half-carriageways. This organization will allow traffic to be maintained during the works and minimize disruptions to the activity of the industrial estate.
In a first phase, the eastern section, approximately 1,000 meters long, will be acted upon by milling the existing pavement and extending a new wearing course.
Subsequently, in the western section, about 800 meters long and with a greater degree of deterioration, the road surface will be milled, an intermediate layer of asphalt concrete will be executed, and a new wearing course will be extended.
In both sections, the intersections with transversal roads will also be improved.
The action will be completed with the renewal of horizontal and vertical signage, the execution of raised pedestrian crossings, and various improvements in service pipelines.
