Both general cargo and solid bulk maintain sustained growth over time, thus consolidating the positive evolution of activity at the docks.

César Díaz, President of the Port Authority of Santander (APS): "this double milestone encourages us to continue working and highlights the Port of Santander's capacity to grow and face new challenges."

Santander, November 6, 2026. Merchandise traffic at the Port of Santander grew by 2% between January and October 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 6,066,071 tons and becoming the best accumulated traffic result in the history of the Cantabrian infrastructure.

October also set a new traffic record, reaching 704,345 tons, 7.3% more than the same month in 2025.

For César Díaz, president of the APS, these are "extraordinary" results that "encourage us to continue working and highlight the Port of Santander's capacity to grow and face new challenges."

Díaz assured that this "sustained growth over time" is not the result of an isolated circumstance, "but of continuous work and a strategy that is proving to be effective." "Together with the port community, we are making the port gain activity, operational capacity, and competitiveness, and consolidate itself as a benchmark logistics infrastructure in northern Spain," he added.

In this regard, he assured that the challenge now is to continue preparing the port for the future, "anticipating the needs of our clients and providing it with infrastructures and services that allow this evolution to be maintained."

"We have important projects underway such as the expansion of the vertical car silo, the Raos 6 and Raos 8 docks, or the urban access to the port, thanks to the resources we generate with our own activity. In addition, the Investment Plan foresees public-private actions worth 245 million euros until 2030," he added.

"We are satisfied with these results, but what is truly relevant is that we have the capacity to turn these data into a lasting trend," since "each new traffic and each company that trusts our facilities contribute to generating activity, business opportunities, and employment for Cantabria," he concluded.
