The facilities of the Fishing Port of Vigo are becoming, from today, August 31st, until September 4th, the setting for the new children's Summer Camp organized by the National Association of Women in Fishing (ANMUPESCA), in collaboration with the Port Authority of Vigo and FUNDAMAR.
This initiative will place the Vigo port area at the epicenter of a pilot work-life balance project, designed to meet the needs of families linked to the sector and to evaluate a support model that can be exported in the future to other ports in the country.
Twenty children aged 3 to 12 are participating in the camp, which will run from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering direct immersion in the daily life and heritage of the port through an adapted activity program:
Immersion in the port area and the fish market: Guided visits to discover firsthand the operational functioning of the Fishing Port of Vigo, the auction, and the commercialization of fish.
Workshops on fishing activity: Practical dynamics to showcase the products of the Galician estuaries and highlight the traditional and current trades that bring the port to life.
Awareness of the estuary and the marine environment: Games and educational activities focused on the preservation of the marine and industrial ecosystem surrounding the port.
With the collaboration of the Port Authority of Vigo and FUNDAMAR (Foundation for Fishing and Shellfishing), the initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Port of Vigo to social responsibility, generational replacement, and the dissemination of local fishing culture.
