Maritime traffic trends diverge drastically at two key chokepoints, as crossings decrease in the Strait of Hormuz and recover in Bab el-Mandeb, according to data published by MarineTraffic.
Crossings in Hormuz fell by 28%, settling at 77, while cargo voyages decreased from 45 to 33. The number of sanctioned vessels and ghost fleet ships dropped from 50 to 23 in the region.
In line with the above, a total of 40 transits remained with their routes undetermined, while 32 used Iran's unilateral scheme.
In the case of the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, the opposite scenario occurred in this waterway, marked by a 9.7% recovery in crossings, reaching 248.
Furthermore, it was reported that cargo vessel traffic in the Red Sea strait increased from 103 to 109.
Meanwhile, transits with transponders turned off remained close to 23, while adherence to the traffic separation system remained around 91%.
The data points to increasing pressure on shipping in the Gulf, while traffic in the Red Sea continues to show greater operational resilience.
