In June 2026, the ports of the Tarapacá Region mobilized 891,805 tons, a figure that reflected an 8.2% contraction compared to the same month of the previous year.
Despite this, the accumulated total for the semester closed with a slight advance of 0.3%, totaling 7.45 million tons, as reported in the latest bulletin from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The drop in exports was the main negative incident of the month, showing a 17% reduction within the observed timeframe. This was followed by restowage with a 4% decrease.
In contrast, cabotage showed a growth of 120.4%, while transit to third parties advanced 9.1% and imports achieved a more moderate increase of 2.1%.
Loading and unloading operations totaled 870,918 tons, implying an 8.3% decrease over twelve months. Within this segment, exports led the movement with 596,410 tons.
Imports, meanwhile, reached 125,102 tons, and transit to third parties reached 87,906 tons. Cabotage, for its part, contributed 61,500 tons in the month.
Regarding cargo handling, 20,887 tons were registered, all corresponding to restowage, which meant a 4% decrease compared to June 2025.
By type of cargo, bulk concentrated most of the movement with 603,904 tons, although it retreated 14.4% over twelve months. The rest of the merchandise totaled 287,903 tons, showing an 8.5% growth compared to the previous year.
