The annual October Cruise Month, an initiative by Cruise Lines International Association Australasia, is set to get under way throughout Australia and New Zealand.
In what started as Cruise Week in 2012 and became Cruise Month in October 2016, the four-week campaign puts the spotlight on four types of cruising — ocean, river, expedition and luxury.
Under the banner #LoveCruise, it is designed to build excitement around the summer cruise season.
It encourages travellers to contact local CLIA-accredited cruise specialists, highlighting their knowledge and expertise.
To help agents mount their own Cruise Month activities, CLIA produced a refreshed Cruise Month toolkit that includes logos, banners, flyers and posters and a how-to video with ideas for getting involved.
There will also be an expanded webinar series, with almost 40 sessions presented by CLIA cruise lines to give advisors valuable product updates and details of Cruise Month promotions.
Ocean cruising will take centre stage from October 4 -10, followed by river cruising October 11-17, expedition cruising October 18-24 and luxury cruising October 25-31.
"With a busy summer season ahead, October is the perfect time to put cruising in the spotlight and demonstrate the important role travel advisors play in helping people discover their ideal cruise holiday," CLIA Australasia Executive Director Joel Katz said.
"Cruise Month is designed to help CLIA members capitalise on the excitement around cruising and inspire travellers to explore the enormous range of experiences available," Katz said.
