Discover Airlines will commence direct flights between Frankfurt and Genoa next spring, targeting German cruise passengers travelling to embark on Costa Cruises ships departing from Genoa and Savona.
The route represents a collaboration between Costa Cruises, Genoa Airport and Discover Airlines, with the latter offering fly & cruise packages combining flights with Costa Toscana cruises from Savona and Costa Fascinosa cruises from Genoa.
The service will operate twice weekly throughout the summer season starting March 28, 2027, with 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft.
Mario Zanetti, CEO of Costa Cruises, commented: "The new connection with Frankfurt, one of Europe's leading hubs, represents a strategic step for the growth of our region and of the cruise market. Genoa Airport thus becomes an increasingly competitive gateway for international guests who choose Liguria as the home port for their cruise holidays."
Marco Götz, CCO, Discover Airlines, described Genoa as "one of the Mediterranean's most important cruise gateways."
As well as serving the German cruise market, the new connection aims to increase international tourist flows to Genoa and Liguria and enhance connectivity from Genoa Airport to major European hubs. Describing the new direct connection as "an important achievement for Genoa Airport and for Liguria's tourism and business community," Matteo Paroli, chairman of Genoa Airport, said: "Having a direct flight to one of Europe's major hubs significantly enhances Liguria's accessibility and creates new opportunities for both inbound and outbound traffic."
The service runs to October 30, 2027. Frankfurt to Genoa flights depart at 11:40 on Sundays (arriving 12:55) and 11:00 on Saturdays (arriving 12:15). Return flights from Genoa to Frankfurt depart at 13:40 on Sundays (arriving 15:05) and 13:00 on Saturdays (arriving 14:25).
Flights are available through discover-airlines.com, lufthansa.com and travel agencies.
