ABP welcomed Explora III to the Port of Southampton on this luxury vessel's first call in the United Kingdom.
Operated by Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand of the MSC Group, the ship marks the halfway point of the six-ship fleet, with three currently sailing worldwide and three more to join by the end of 2028. It is the first LNG-powered vessel in the fleet, representing the next step in the brand's environmental strategy and its future-proof design.
Alastair Welch, Regional Director of ABP Southampton, stated, "We are proud to welcome Explora III to Southampton on its maiden call to the UK. The arrival once again demonstrates Southampton's position as the UK's premier cruise port and a preferred destination for the industry's most modern and innovative vessels."
"Thanks to strong alliances across the industry and continuous investment in our facilities and operations, Southampton continues to attract the world's most modern and innovative vessels, generating jobs and an economic contribution of USD 1.35 billion for Southampton and the wider region," Welch added.
Antonio Paradiso, Vice President and Managing Director for the UK and Ireland at Explora Journeys, noted, "We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Associated British Ports and to bring our newest ship to Southampton for the first time. Explora III embodies our vision to redefine maritime travel of utmost elegance, offering passengers the freedom to discover the world at their own pace, while enjoying the space, privacy, and personalized service that characterize the Explora Journeys experience. We look forward to welcoming our passengers aboard and creating unforgettable journeys from Southampton."
The call of Explora III is part of another very busy cruise season for Southampton, which receives nearly three million passengers each year and serves as a departure point for a wide range of itineraries across Northern Europe and beyond.
