Norwegian Cruise Line is changing the itinerary of an upcoming cruise onboard the Norwegian Sun to allow for technical maintenance.
According to a recently issued statement, the affected sailing will depart from Copenhagen on September 23, 2026.
The company said that the 2001-built vessel will now spend three days docked at the Danish port before sailing to additional destinations in the Baltic as part of a nine-night itinerary.
"Even the most thoughtfully planned voyages may occasionally evolve. While we always strive to operate each sailing as planned, there are times when adjustments are necessary," Norwegian said.
"To support required maintenance, which does not affect the safety of our ship or that of our guests and crew, our highest priority, our visit to Oslo, Norway, and one scheduled day at sea have been replaced with two overnight stays in Copenhagen," the company added.
According to the statement, while the Norwegian Sun will remain docked overnight, passengers are still required to arrive at the terminal during their designated check-in arrival windows.
"While we understand that many guests were looking forward to visiting Oslo, this additional time in Copenhagen offers greater flexibility to explore one of Scandinavia's most beloved capitals," Norwegian said.
As a gesture of appreciation, the company is also offering a $100 non-refundable onboard credit per stateroom, provided as $50 onboard credit for guest one and guest two.
"We sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we complete this necessary maintenance," the company said.
After spending three days in Copenhagen, the Norwegian Sun will resume its original itinerary, which includes visits to Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, Estonia and Finland.
Before ending in Helsinki, the cruise will include visits to Warnemunde, Gdynia, Klaipeda, Riga, Nynashamn and Tallinn.
Spending the summer in Northern Europe, the Norwegian Sun experienced technical issues while sailing in the region in late June.
