The transformation of the Oosterdam, part of the Holland America Evolution program, will take place five weeks earlier than planned to meet the high demand for cruises on the renovated ship. The vessel will begin its modernization ahead of schedule and will return to service with its first subsequent voyage on October 31, 2027. The ship's renovation will be carried out in Marseille, France.
The new itinerary allows the cruise line to add five additional voyages onboard, covering the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Caribbean. To accommodate the accelerated ship renovation, several previously announced voyages between September 11, 2027, and December 9, 2027, have been canceled, and affected passengers and travel agents are being contacted directly to inform them about rescheduling options.
"We are very pleased with the unprecedented response the Holland America Evolution has received, and we are excited to be able to move up the Oosterdam's dry dock stay to meet the demand of our guests," stated Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line.
The Holland America Evolution builds upon the experiences that have long defined the cruise line, combining new enhancements with the premium service, thoughtfully crafted itineraries, and welcoming ambiance that guests expect.
Following its dry dock, the Oosterdam will embark on its inaugural voyage, a 10-day cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Trieste, Italy, departing on October 31, 2027. Passengers onboard will be among the first to experience the redesigned ship while visiting destinations in Italy, Greece, Montenegro, and Croatia.
