(1:39 p.m. EDT) — Princess Cruises is increasing the prices for Princess Plus and Princess Premier packages by $5 per person, per day starting October 13.
Princess Premier will now cost $105 per day when booked before the cruise, and $110 per day if purchased on the ship.
Princess Plus will now cost $70 per day pre-cruise, and $75 per day onboard.
The packages include drink packages, WiFi, crew appreciation, casual dining and room service.
The price increase comes alongside changes to the cruise line's standalone Wi-Fi offerings. From October 13, the four-device Wi-Fi package will be discontinued and will remain available exclusively as a Princess Premier benefit.
Instead, a new two-device Wi-Fi package will be introduced for $39.99 per day if purchased pre-cruise. The same package costs $47.99 per day if purchased onboard for the full voyage.
The price for the standalone one-device Wi-Fi package will also see a price adjustment and will cost $27.99 per day if purchased pre-cruise or $33.99 per day if purchased onboard for the full journey.
In the Cruise Critic community, members have shared a range of reactions to the latest price increase, from questions about existing bookings to concerns over overall value.
Many wanted to know how the new pricing applies to purchases they have already made.
"Interesting. Will those that have already purchased these plans be charged additional once on board? What about those who have already booked plus/premeir fares?"
Others said the increase is making them reconsider their future sailing plans and explore other options.
"Just bought the 4-device Internet package for our two upcoming (Nov/Dec) cruises. Just another reason after these cruises we are going to explore other (more upscale) lines," wrote lstone19.
Some think the higher price could make Princess Plus less worthwhile, especially for guests who do not use all of its benefits.
"I was waiting for this increase to happen. I think this price increase is what will push me away from Princess Plus. Since I really don't drink very much alcohol, it's probably no longer worth it for me," said MsSoCalCruiser.
However, not everyone viewed the increase as a major concern. One member shared that, given their typical use of the benefits, such as drinks, specialty dinners, and Wi-Fi, an increase of a few dollars is not an issue.
"For my 7-10 drinks a day, 4 devices, unlimited casual (pizza 3 times a week) and 3 specialty dinners a week an increase of a few dollars is not a big thing," said memoak, adding: "Plus we have booked premier on all our cruises through June 2028."
Some cruisers still see value in the package despite the increase.
"The Princess package is still a relative bargain compared to every other cruise line," said richstowe. "However since I am now Platinum I'm taking advantage of the 50% wi-fi discount and just paid for my Dec B2B cruises. It was a tough call on whether to get the Princess plus or not. The math is close."
