Sea Cloud Cruises shareholder Maximilian Block joined the management team and veteran cruise executive Ralph de Klijn moved from an advisory role to a more hands-on position as owner's representative.
The appointments are part of a corporate restructure bringing the owners together under a holding company umbrella.
Block has experience in shipping, finance and corporate development and De Klijn brings more than 25 years of operating and commercial management experience at premium and luxury cruise lines.
Victoria Seidel and Adam Pazdzioch remain part of Sea Cloud Cruises' management team.
"Sea Cloud Cruises is a strong brand with a long tradition and an exceptional product. With the new structure and the expanded leadership team, we are strategically positioning Sea Cloud Cruises for the next phase of development," Block said.
De Klijn added: "We aim to expand our business in our existing core markets and strengthen our presence in additional international markets. To this end, we will also make targeted investments in new technologies."
The DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) remains one of Sea Cloud Cruises' most important markets. At the same time, the company is growing its business in the US and other international markets. Recently Kevin Smith was appointed president, the Americas, reporting to de Klijn.
An advisory board will support the management team on strategic issues and corporate development. Heino Schmidt, a long-standing member of the shipping company Hamburg Süd management board, will serve as chairman. Other members include Hermann Ebel, who is moving from operational management to the board, and Oliver Förster, partner of the Hamburg law firm Huth Dietrich Hahn.
Block has been actively involved in Sea Cloud Cruises' development for several years. He has shipping industry operating experience as a broker and extensive expertise in company management and development. He played a key role in the establishment, development and sale of PROIMMO, the real estate company he co-founded.
De Klijn has held positions in commercial and operational management, product and sales strategy at Viking, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn and Silversea. He was COO for Compagnie Française de Croisières and founded the cruise, resort and hotel consultancy iStrive.
