Virtuoso advisors have adopted artificial intelligence quickly, with 74% now using it in their business, alongside 70% of preferred partners and well above the 59% industry adoption rate reported by Phocuswright.
They have also found its limits.
Because the technology draws on similar sources, much AI-generated travel content overlaps, producing itineraries that are repetitive rather than tailored, and contributing to overcrowding at the destinations it keeps recommending.
Human expertise is the beneficiary.
Three in four Virtuoso clients cite their advisor's accommodation and destination expertise as a key benefit, versus fewer than half of travelers advised by others, and three in five point to an advisor's ability to curate experiences tailored to them, versus roughly one in three elsewhere. Interest runs broad, with 79% of luxury travelers saying they are open to using an advisor for future trips. Half of advisors report clients steering away from over-touristed destinations.
So algorithm inspiration is giving way to analog escapes, as Virtuoso put it, with time, privacy and the ability to disconnect emerging as the ultimate luxuries.
Virtuoso said it continues to exemplify its technology philosophy — "automate the predictable so that you can humanize the exceptional" — by furthering tech solutions that preserve and enhance the human connection.
The network has cultivated one of luxury travel's most comprehensive aggregations of proprietary global knowledge, built over decades of member and advisor expertise, partner relationships and intelligence, luxury consumer understanding and institutional experience.
This collective knowledge has traditionally lived across people, conversations and systems that could not be universally accessed.
Now Virtuoso is introducing a strategic intelligence capability that connects data, systems and security across its network to simplify complexity, transforming expert knowledge and thousands of interconnected data points into meaningful business enablement resources.
"What we've built is a foundational digital capability that is ever evolving with infinite possibilities," Virtuoso Chairman/CEO Matthew Upchurch said at Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas. "It brings together the expertise, insights, data and relationships that exist within the Virtuoso community — our advisors, member agencies, preferred partners — and makes it easier to access, combine and act on."
Upchurch said the new capability will allow the network to access this collective intelligence in a greater way, while also helping Virtuoso learn from how the network uses it to identify gaps and build solutions to close them.
Rather than introducing a standalone product, this is an intelligence foundation that will continue to grow and expand based on network engagement. Because the tool is not a product, it doesn't have a name. It is a foundation that products may be built on.
Future capabilities are intended to help member agencies, advisors and partners discover opportunities, make informed business decisions and draw upon trusted network intelligence in new ways, while also allowing Virtuoso's own teams to better serve its network with more precise support.
"AI is at the core of how it works, but what we're really talking about is Virtuoso collective intelligence, powered by AI," Virtuoso President Brad Bourland said. "This new capability sits within a broader technology strategy Virtuoso has deliberately pursued: adding value to the platforms our members and partners already invest in, nurturing an ecosystem of solution providers who serve the network in ways no single company could replicate alone and focusing Virtuoso's own internal technology efforts on work that creates unique value only the network itself can produce."
Upchurch continued, "The future of this organization is not a one-size-fits-all system that flattens the network into sameness. It is a foundation built to enhance each member's and advisor's own unique expression of themselves and their business, while also unlocking the collective advantage that comes when the entire network moves and delivers as one."
The project's next horizon builds on this foundation by combining Virtuoso's proprietary insights with vetted external market, economic and behavioral data, creating a richer understanding of what Virtuoso knows and the forces shaping the world around it.
The aim is to deliver intelligence with a level of context, relevance and precision.
