Silversea Cruise Ship Rescues Solo Sailor in North Pacific
The cruise ship Silver Whisper rescued a solo sailor from the Canadian-flagged sailboat April Alice, which was dismasted about 420 nautical miles off the Oregon coast. The sailor had sustained a shoulder injury and was too far from shore for a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescue. After a challenging maneuver in rough North Pacific conditions, the crew successfully brought the survivor aboard and provided medical treatment before returning to Vancouver on schedule.
