The bulk carrier Aroyat was attacked on 27 September as it was approaching the port of Novorossiysk, Russia. An official casualty list has not been released; however, one Turkish sailor is claimed to be missing.

The incident occurred as the bulk carrier was headed from Poti in Georgia to Novorossiysk. The vessel was then reportedly hit by an aerial drone, causing a significant fire in the accommodation block and the stern, later leaving the vessel disabled. The vessel was later towed to Turkey for further inspection, search, and repairs.
According to Turkish news media the family of the second engineer aboard the Aroyat have claimed that he has been missing since the incident. The family reports of not having any contact with him but continues to hold out hope in case he is somewhere in Russia or still aboard the vessel.
Ukrainian authorities have not claimed responsibility. Turkey has repeatedly protested to Ukraine over attacks on commercial vessels and casualties among seafarers.
The Aroyat is a Palau-flagged bulk carrier built in 1997. The vessel is owned and operated by the Istanbul-based company.
