Associated British Ports (ABP) welcomed the cruise ship Explora III to the Port of Southampton, marking the vessel's first call in the United Kingdom.
Operated by Explora Journeys, the luxury ocean travel brand of the MSC Group, Explora III marks the halfway point of Explora Journeys' six-ship fleet, with three ships currently sailing worldwide and three more to join by the end of 2028.
It is the first LNG-powered ship in the Explora Journeys fleet, representing the next step in the brand's environmental strategy and its future-proof design.
Alastair Welch, Regional Director of ABP Southampton, stated that "we are proud to welcome Explora III to Southampton on its inaugural call to the UK. The arrival of Explora III once again demonstrates Southampton's position as the UK's premier cruise port and preferred destination for the industry's most modern and innovative vessels. Thanks to strong partnerships across the industry and continuous investment in our facilities and operations, Southampton continues to attract the world's most modern and innovative vessels, generating jobs and a billion-pound economic contribution for Southampton and the wider region."
Designed to offer an exclusive luxury suite experience, Explora III features 461 ocean-view suites and can accommodate approximately 900 passengers with a host-to-guest ratio of one host for every 1.25 cruisers.
