The new TOFC (trailer on flatcar or piggyback) rail terminal at Dunkerque Port made its first rotations to the Rhône Valley with the ultimate goal of shifting the equivalent of 50,000 trucks to rail annually by 2032.
This USD 28 million investment will greatly contribute to the decarbonization of freight transport, while also enhancing the attractiveness of the port platform and reducing the number of trucks on the A16 highway.
"Once again, Dunkerque demonstrates the extent to which the ecological transition can be a factor in sustainable economic development," stated Patrice Vergriete, President of the Urban Community, Mayor of Dunkerque, and President of ANRU (National Agency for Urban Renewal).
