EcoStone Solutions launched as a specialist marine service company providing independent aftersales support for shipboard environmental technologies. Established in April and headquartered in Genoa, Italy, the company supports shipowners and technical managers with diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, spare parts, training, upgrades, conversions and remote technical assistance.
The company launched in response to growing operational challenges as fleets operate equipment from several manufacturers, acquired vessels arrive with existing systems and service histories, and some installations no longer receive adequate support from original suppliers.
Paolo Gozzi, MD of EcoStone Solutions, said: "Owners have invested significantly in onboard environmental systems and those systems must continue performing reliably long after commissioning. EcoStone gives owners a practical, independent alternative, backed by people who understand these systems, the conditions in which they operate and the international and local regulations that they are subject to."
For cruise shipowners and technical managers, services include 24/7 technical support and troubleshooting, remote diagnostics, EGCS health checks and mechanical inspections, calibration and maintenance of pH, turbidity, PAH and gas analysers, spare parts support, crew training, EGCS upgrades, conversions and performance optimisation.
The company supports operators with technical documentation and evidence of system performance relating to IMO MARPOL Annex VI, Flag State and Classification Society requirements, Port State Control inspections, and port- or region-specific restrictions on EGCS operation and washwater discharge. A reporting portal gives shore-based teams access to historical records, technical reports, certificates and maintenance information across fleets.
While exhaust gas cleaning systems represent the team's deepest experience area, capability extends to water treatment and ballast water management systems, emissions measurement, LNG fuel gas supply systems, SCR, air lubrication systems and WESP.
As part of the wider Bluestone Group, EcoStone can support projects requiring engineering, integration and turnkey retrofit delivery. Bluestone Group delivers complex newbuilding supervision and vessel upgrades from feasibility and engineering through procurement, installation and commissioning. Its multidisciplinary capabilities include naval architecture, laser scanning and 3D modelling, structural, piping and electrical engineering, class-approved design and onboard integration. Projects can be delivered during drydock, in port or, where practical, while vessels remain in operation.
Matteo Di Maio, co-founder and director of Bluestone Group, said: "EcoStone adds aftersales and service capabilities for environmental technologies to Bluestone's wider project management, engineering and turnkey retrofit expertise. Together, the two businesses can support owners from routine maintenance and diagnostics through to major upgrades and conversions, providing greater continuity and quality across the life of the equipment."
