UK Approves Three Offshore Wind Farms as it Looks to Next Allocation Round
The UK approved three offshore wind farm projects involving RWE, adding 4 GW of combined capacity. Two projects—Dogger Bank South West and South East—each with 1.5 GW capacity, have already secured Contracts for Difference through Allocation Round 7 and are joint ventures between RWE (51 percent) and Masdar (49 percent). The third project, North Falls Wind Farm, is a joint venture between RWE and SSE. The government plans to open Round 8 in July, with analysts expecting up to 19 projects to seek CfDs.
