55 kg of cocaine seized in Gdynia port from Brazil

Officials from the State Revenue Administration (KAS) of Pomerania, Poland, seized a total of 55 kilograms of cocaine at the Port of Gdynia. The narcotic was found inside three containers originating from Brazil.

The drug, with an estimated market value of approximately 5.38 million dollars, was hidden in metal pieces declared as scrap metal, which were transported in 40-foot cargo containers.

The discovery was made by agents of the Pomeranian Customs and Fiscal Office in Gdynia (PUCS), who selected the containers, as reported by the spokesperson for the Chamber of the State Revenue Administration in Gdańsk, Commissioner Sebastian Pakalski.

During the detailed inspection, agents found 49 metal molds protected with a layer of silicone. The concealment method and the unusual appearance of the pieces aroused the suspicion of the inspectors.

After opening the molds, Polish officials confirmed the presence of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine in the narcotics test.

The seized substance, along with the documentation, was forwarded by the PUCS for further proceedings.

The investigation to clarify all circumstances of the illicit act and determine the identity of those responsible for the transport is being carried out under the supervision of the Gdańsk District Prosecutor's Office.
