The Border Crossings Unit of Chile's Ministry of Interior announced the reopening of the Cristo Redentor Integrated System after a meeting held by the Chilean and Argentine Coordination Committee, following a review of various traceability reports and weather conditions.
A statement indicated that "as of 10:00 AM in Chile and Argentina, transit for all types of vehicles will be enabled through this international corridor."
"If no climatic inconveniences arise that hinder the safe transitability of the route, the international tunnel will close at 9:00 PM. The Guardia Vieja barriers in Chile and Uspallata in Argentina will close at 7:00 PM," the publication added.
Finally, it was detailed that "the situation of the Cristo Redentor Integrated System, related to transitability for tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, will be updated through this sole official channel, according to monitoring of weather and route transitability conditions, in a report at 9:00 PM today (Wednesday, September 9)."
It should be recalled that binational authorities had kept the crossing closed since Tuesday, September 8.
