The Truck Owners' Guild Association (AGEC) once again reported complications in entering the DP World Terminal of the Port of San Antonio (Chile). The group again warned of long waits in the vicinity of the Alto San Antonio Terminal (ASAT).
Through a social media post, AGEC stated that "this situation continues to repeat itself and the long waits affecting transport seem to have become normalized, while the costs of these inefficiencies end up being borne by transport companies."
Furthermore, the association emphasized that urgent measures must be taken, warning that "EPSA must exercise its role regarding port operations and adopt the necessary measures in the face of situations that are systematically affecting transporters."
"ASAT must fulfill the objective that underpins its operation: to organize flows and effectively contribute to reducing waiting times, not to become an additional stage that ends up increasing waiting times," the publication added.
Regarding DP World San Antonio, AGEC stated that "it must solve its operational problems and address situations related to the organization of its shifts and personnel that would be generating extensive shift change periods and affecting operational continuity."
"It is not reasonable that internal, operational, or coordination problems of the different actors in the chain end up being economically transferred to transporters, who must bear unproductive hours, fuel, labor costs, and loss of operational capacity," it was remarked.
Finally, the group stated that "we call on Puerto San Antonio and DP World to adopt concrete measures that allow these waiting times to be reduced."
It should be recalled that AGEC recently reported the submission of a request to the Comptroller General of the Republic, where they request an investigation into the effectiveness of EPSA's supervisory role over its concessionaires.
