DEA and FBI Share Experiences in Conversation on Organized Crime in Talcahuano

The Talcahuano Regional Customs Service convened representatives from the DEA and FBI to share their experiences in combating organized crime. The conversation included the participation of regional authorities and representatives from national security institutions.

In this regard, the National Customs Service reported that "both the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) speaker Braden Bindrup and the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) speaker Blaine Freestone explained the mission and objectives of their agencies - both entities of the United States federal government - how this work fits into the regional context, and described what the main threats currently facing Chile could be."

Regarding the meeting, Katherine Ampuero, regional director of Talcahuano Customs, stated that "the presentation by the North American experts sought to enhance the intelligence analysis capabilities of all institutions involved in the fight against organized crime."

"These types of events allow us to continue promoting and strengthening the coordination and cooperation work that exists today, which is fundamental for the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of any type of crime, whether at air, sea, or land borders," concluded the regional director.

The conversation took place in Concepción, specifically, at the Auditorium of the Carabineros School in the Lomas Verdes Complex.
