At Stropkaai in Ghent, we are building a new student accommodation complex with 239 student rooms ready to move into, a concierge space, commercial space, underground bicycle parking, space for a few cars and plant rooms. The project also includes the interior fit-out, landscaping and a small section of new parkland.
Ghent is a true university city. However, with demand for student accommodation growing faster than supply, finding somewhere to live is not always easy. We are helping to close that gap by building a new student accommodation complex.
We started work in February 2025. Today, the fit-out is in full swing and we are bringing in the first pieces of furniture, which we have made ourselves. Soon, all 239 rooms will be ready to move into, complete with a bed, desk, wardrobe, kitchen, table and chairs. We are also providing a concierge space, commercial space, underground bicycle parking, space for a few cars and plant rooms. And we are landscaping the surrounding area and creating a small section of new parkland.

This project progressed smoothly thanks to the combined strength of all our in-house expertise. From foundations and structural works to heating, cooling, ventilation and the interior fit-out, we handled everything ourselves.
That integrated approach makes a difference. With all these teams working closely together within the same group, we can address problems more quickly and work together to find the most practical and cost-efficient solution.
We recently added a new area of expertise: Joinery Workshop. The team of fifteen colleagues makes kitchens, fitted cupboards, desks and fire doors, among other items. Following an initial assignment for our own office extension, the team is now also working on other projects, including hospitals and schools.
Stropkaai is the first project for which the Joinery Workshop is taking care of the entire interior fit-out. The team manages the whole process, from taking measurements and manufacturing to installation. For the student rooms, they are making bespoke furniture: beds, wardrobes, desks and bathroom units. They are also manufacturing and installing the fire doors and kitchens throughout the building.
“Collaboration between our different areas of expertise on this project also allows us to coordinate the works much more effectively. Technical drawings, manufacturing, delivery and installation: these different stages align much more closely. This makes it easier to identify problems in advance and work together to find a practical solution.”
