AP Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has signed a new agreement with Columbia Sportswear Company (Columbia) to provide warehousing and distribution services for its order fulfillment and packaging operations in the UK and Ireland.
Under the agreement, Maersk will manage Columbia's order fulfillment and packaging business in the UK and Ireland from its existing multi-client facility in Tamworth, near Birmingham (UK). This new structure will replace Columbia's current distribution system, which operates from Cambrai (France), allowing for a more localized and agile supply chain for the UK and Ireland region.
The Tamworth facility will offer a wide range of products including footwear, apparel, accessories, and equipment, and will serve all sales channels.
"Over the years, we have developed a strategic alliance with Maersk, and it is essential for us to collaborate with professionals in the logistics sector due to the complexity of our supply chain. We have reached a level of activity in the UK that allows us to establish a dedicated facility for this market to serve consumers and customers more quickly," said Matthieu Schegg, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Columbia Sportswear EMEA.
"This agreement reflects the continued momentum of our collaboration with Columbia Sportswear and highlights the value of integrated logistics solutions. By bringing order management closer to the final market, we can offer faster delivery times, greater flexibility, and a more resilient supply chain," commented Jason Walker, Head of Operations at Maersk Contract Logistics.
