Empresa Portuaria Iquique (EPI) achieved a new operational milestone at its facilities with the maiden call of the vessel Oriental Reefer, arriving from the port of Ust-Luga, located 110 kilometers from Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The operation, carried out at Terminal Molo, managed by EPI, involved the transfer of 7,008 tons of cargo. These supplies are primarily destined for the Austral plant in the Coquimbo Region for the manufacture of emulsion used in mining processes, with a potential projection towards the Peruvian market.
The operation was carried out during 8 work shifts under safety standards, reaffirming the port's commitment to prevention, safety, efficiency, and operational excellence. Likewise, this transfer represented a valuable boost to job creation and labor dynamism for port workers.
Empresa Portuaria Iquique highlighted the articulated work and synergy with the different companies that made this operation possible, thanking the management of the shipping agency B&M, the logistical coordination of CEC Chile, the berth services provided by the stevedoring company Conosur Logistic, and the contribution of port workers and transport unions.
This type of operation reflects EPI's strategy to advance in cargo diversification, consolidating the Port of Iquique as a strategic, competitive, and efficient logistics hub. In this way, the terminal reaffirms its capacity to connect imports from the north with the country's central-southern industrial chain and the markets of the Andean macro-region.
