Shandong Port Group (SPG) launched a new sea-rail intermodal service connecting Luoyang in Henan province with Qingdao Port on Oct 8, marking the 110th route in its expanding intermodal transport network.
The inaugural train departed from Shouyangshan Railway Station in Luoyang carrying 86 TEUs of office furniture, opening a more direct logistics corridor between the inland industrial hub and international shipping routes.
Henan has long been a key market for SPG's inland logistics operations. The group has established a logistics subsidiary in Zhengzhou, developed 10 inland ports and introduced 19 sea-rail intermodal routes across the province, strengthening transport links and supporting regional trade.
Luoyang, an important manufacturing center known for its advanced materials and heavy industries, already handles more than 80 percent of its export shipments through SPG.
Developed through close coordination among SPG's Logistics Group, Qingdao Port, railway authorities and local businesses, the new service streamlines cargo movements by allowing containers to travel directly from Shouyangshan Station to Qingdao Port.
By reducing intermediate handling and transit times, the route will improve logistics efficiency and provide Luoyang's exporters with more convenient access to global markets.
