28 Port Workers in Punta Arenas Certified in Labor Competencies

A total of 28 port workers from Punta Arenas, belonging to the Sitramp and Austral unions, were certified in their labor competencies through ChileValora. The ceremony highlighted the experience, knowledge, and skills acquired by workers who perform various functions within maritime-port activities.

"Among the certified profiles are workers who serve as mooring personnel, supervisors, tally clerks, and in other functions directly linked to port operations, who received formal recognition for the competencies they have developed throughout their professional careers," reported the Confederation of Port Workers of Chile (Cotraporchi).

"These certifications are very important because they formally recognize the work that port workers carry out with experience, responsibility, and commitment. Behind each certification are years of work and knowledge acquired in practice, which is why we believe it is fundamental that these competencies are recognized and valued. As Cotraporchi, we will continue to promote initiatives that contribute to dignifying, professionalizing, and making visible the important work performed by our workers in the ports of Chile," stated Sergio Baeza, president of Cotraporchi.

Labor competency certification is a tool that allows for valuing the knowledge and skills developed by workers throughout their careers, contributing to strengthening the professionalization and recognition of the various trades that are part of the maritime-port industry.

"For us, this is a super important recognition for the workers because we are advancing towards the purpose and the future we want and dream for this industry for the country. A safer industry with workers certified in their competencies, with capacities to develop their skills and trades. We thank the workers for their effort, for their support and sacrifice, especially here in Punta Arenas where climatic conditions are often adverse," said Pedro Brain, Multi-purpose Ports Manager at Ultraport.

The ceremony also featured the certified workers themselves, who received this recognition as an appreciation for their careers and the daily contribution they make to the functioning of port activity in the Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica.

"I am totally grateful for this training process; it is an experience that certifies us for new achievements and goals as workers, and most importantly, to have tools to develop optimal work that values our capabilities.
