The Undersecretary of Ports and Maritime and Fluvial Transport, Bryan Andrade, highlighted the progress of the Fifth Bridge as a strategic project to strengthen connectivity between logistics, industrial, and commercial hubs and Guayaquil's port system.
Phase 1A shows 60% progress, with its completion scheduled for 2027. The project aims to reduce travel times to the port area and support cargo growth, along with projects like Contecon's ZEDE (Special Economic Development Zone).
In parallel, Guayaquil's port system recorded a 17% growth during the first half of 2026. The new road infrastructure would contribute to improving land connectivity and supporting the logistical and industrial development linked to port activity.
