Ten workers were intoxicated with carbon dioxide in the Port of Barcelona (Spain). One of the affected individuals remains in critical condition.
According to the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (Medical Emergency System), the incident occurred during the early hours of September 4th in the hold of the vessel Ocean Euphrosine, which was at the flammable goods dock of the Catalan port facility after unloading vegetable oils.
Nine units of Barcelona Firefighters were mobilized to the scene, in addition to personnel from the Civil Guard and Port Police; attending to a total of 19 people.
The person in critical condition was transferred to the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. Meanwhile, the investigation is being handled by the Civil Guard and the Maritime Captaincy.
