Fire Aboard Cargo Ship Injures Eight at German Port of Hamburg
A fire broke out aboard the Netherlands-flagged cargo vessel Jolyn docked at Grevenhofkai in Hamburg's Kuhwerderhafen section on the afternoon of 24 May, resulting in serious injuries to eight individuals. Eighty firefighters battled the blaze for nearly three hours, with seven crew members and one firefighter transported to hospital. Police stated that asbestos may have been released during the incident, and a sailing ban has been imposed on the ship as investigations continue.
