AF Gruppen, through its subsidiary AF Offshore Decom and in consortium with Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC), has been awarded a contract by a North Sea operator for the engineering, preparation, removal, and disposal (EPRD) of one of its platforms on the UK continental shelf.
This marks the third contract awarded to the consortium by this client in the last year.
"Securing a third contract with this client in the last year is a significant achievement and a clear endorsement of our consortium's capabilities. This contract reflects our strong track record in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality EPRD solutions for some of the most complex facilities in the North Sea," stated Lars Myhre Hjelmeset, Executive Vice President of AF Gruppen's Offshore division.
"We look forward to continuing to support our client's project portfolio, both offshore and onshore, leveraging our core strengths and working alongside HMC in close collaboration with our client over the next decade," he added.
The facility features a steel structure, with a topside weighing approximately 23,000 tonnes and a support structure of around 12,000 tonnes. The contract also includes an option for the removal of certain conductors and subsea structures.
Studies of the offshore platform will commence immediately, followed by detailed engineering and offshore preparatory work, which will be carried out over the next eight years.
The platform will be removed in a multi-year decommissioning campaign using HMC vessels and transported to AF Environmental Base Vats for onshore dismantling, recycling, and disposal over the next decade.
