AMC Orders Two Newbuild Tugs After 50 Years

Naval design firm Glosten has been contracted by American Marine Corporation (AMC) to provide the complete design and engineering package for two new 122-foot (37-meter) line-haul tugs, which will be the first newbuilds in AMC's 50-year history.

"Based on Glosten's CT-120 tug concept, the vessels have been developed in close collaboration with AMC to reflect decades of operational experience, offering the capacity, autonomy, and reliability required for demanding offshore services," Glosten communicated.

"Each unit will feature a usable fuel capacity of 492 liters and is expected to achieve a bollard pull exceeding 85 metric tons," it added.

Glosten emphasized that "the new tugs will be a notable addition to the U.S. fleet at a time when the construction of custom-designed line-haul tugs is increasingly unusual."

"Furthermore, they represent the first newbuild tugs in AMC's 50-year history and will initiate the first shipbuilding program at New Pacific Industrial's facilities in Vancouver, Washington," it added.
