Cochin Shipyard Limited delivered the MV Maria, the second in the series of eight HS EcoFreighter vessels, to HS Schiffahrts UG & Co., of Germany.
The delivery and acceptance protocol was signed in India by Dr. S. Harikrishnan, CSL's Director of Operations, and Heinz Josef Schepers, Director of HS Schiffahrts.
The delivery of the MS Maria marks another important milestone in CSL's growing global commercial shipbuilding portfolio, reaffirming its ability to deliver technologically advanced and versatile vessels to international clients.
Groot Ship Design was assigned for the initial, final, and basic engineering, in accordance with DNV classification rules. The EcoFreighter MPV is an ice-class vessel, capable of transporting project cargo, heavy lift cargo, steel coils, containers, timber, paper, dry bulk cargo, and dangerous goods for international trade.
The 7000 DWT vessel features a raked bow with an optimized design for improved speed performance and fuel efficiency, along with a transom stern and has a single large cargo hold equipped with six movable panels, allowing for flexible cargo configurations, including grain bulkheads in multiple positions and an 'tween deck arrangement.
Propulsion is provided by a medium-speed four-stroke diesel engine driving a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) through a reduction gearbox.
