Chinese shipyard CSSC Chengxi delivered the third 17,000 DWT asphalt carrier, named Palanca Tokyo, which was built for Kumiai Senpaku Co., Ltd., marking the completion of the series project for this type of vessel.
The vessels feature a single propeller, single rudder configuration and are powered by a low-speed diesel engine.
The units are primarily designed for the transportation of high-temperature liquid cargoes, such as asphalt and refined petroleum products, with an overall length of 160 meters, a width of 23.5 meters, a design draft of 8.5 meters, and a service speed of 13.5 knots.
Following the delivery of the first two 17,000 DWT asphalt carriers, the shipyard stated that it leveraged its accumulated technical experience, integrating the concepts of standardized processes and precise control throughout the construction of the Palanca Tokyo.
