Everllence has signed a framework agreement with Damen Shipyards Group for the series supply of the 175D engine to Damen's Fuel Flexible tug program, as well as for other applications.
"By selecting the Everllence 175D engine for its new series of tugs, Damen chooses a high-speed, proven performance engine that combines high efficiency with exceptional reliability. The engine's flexible and modular design also supports Damen's long-term fuel strategy, as the tugs are prepared not only to run on diesel and use 100% biofuel, currently available, but also to operate on methanol, a dual fuel, either in new constructions or through modernizations. This makes the 175D the ideal choice for tug propulsion, offering high efficiency, reliability, and a future-proof solution," the firm stated in a public declaration.
Erik van Schaik, Damen's Product Manager for Tugs, declared that "for our next generation of fuel-flexible tugs, Damen selected the Everllence 175D engine because it offers the ideal combination of compact power density, proven performance, and availability within the required development timeframe. This choice supports our ambition to quickly bring future-proof tug designs to market, while continuing to value the strong relationships we have forged with our engine manufacturing partners across our entire product portfolio."
Ben Andres, Vice President and Head of Everllence's Medium and High-Speed Four-Stroke Marine Engines division, highlighted that this agreement extends the collaboration with Damen in the segment of alternative fuel propulsion solutions.
