Incat Crowther unveiled images from Baku Shipyard, showing the construction of one of three new 42-meter DP2 crew transfer vessels that the company designed for an offshore energy services operator in Azerbaijan.
The custom-built crew vessels will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 22 knots and are adapted to the pre-existing offshore energy infrastructure in the Caspian Sea.
The new-generation fleet features a steel hull and superstructure, with each vessel capable of transporting up to 50 service personnel. The vessels also boast a large aft deck that can carry up to 20 tons of deck cargo, and each will be equipped with a Walk2Work gangway to maximize operational efficiency and safety.
Incat Crowther shipyard was commissioned in late 2025 to design three new custom-built steel crew transfer vessels for an offshore energy services operator in Azerbaijan. The new 42-meter long, DP2 dynamically positioned fast crew transfer vessels will support offshore energy support operations in the Caspian Sea.
Incat Crowther designed the propulsion system specifically to offer robustness, high displacement capacity, and low fuel consumption, through a drive system composed of four new-generation MAN D3872 workboat engines, combined with Hamilton HT810 waterjets.
The next-generation fleet features a series of design improvements over the current fleet of crew transfer vessels, including quadruple propulsion engines, dynamic positioning control, and a revised hull form to allow easier access to berthing infrastructure.
