Safeen Drydocks, the shipbuilding and repair subsidiary of Noatum Maritime, has expanded its dry dock operations with the addition of the UAE's largest floating dry dock, measuring 230 meters, at Zayed Port, in Abu Dhabi.
Designed to accommodate offshore commercial vessels and oil rig repair projects, the new dry dock strengthens Safeen Drydocks' offerings in ship repair, maintenance, and refitting, while improving flexibility in delivery times for its clients.
Safeen Drydocks, a joint venture between AD Ports Group and Premier Marine Engineering Services, currently operates over 170,000 square meters of shipyard facilities at Khalifa and Zayed ports in Abu Dhabi.
The new floating dry dock has a lifting capacity of 21,000 tons and is located next to 1,000 meters of quay. This addition expands the range of ship repair and maintenance projects that Safeen Drydocks can manage, while providing greater planning flexibility.
The expanded dry dock infrastructure will also support the maintenance of Noatum Maritime's extensive offshore fleet, which will increase operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of AD Ports Group's Maritime and Shipping Cluster, stated that "the addition of the floating dry dock represents a significant step in the continuous expansion of Safeen Drydocks' capabilities. By increasing our capacity to serve larger vessels and maintenance projects, we strengthen our ability to offer customers faster and more flexible maintenance solutions, while improving the efficiency of our own fleet operations."
The addition complements the recently acquired Balenciaga shipyard in Spain, which includes dry docks, a 105-meter slipway, and a 22,385 m2 factory equipped with advanced automation technologies.
