Lloyd's Register joins HHI and KSOE to boost the design of hybrid-electric LNG carriers

Lloyd's Register has partnered with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to develop a 185,000 cubic meter LNG carrier with hybrid-electric propulsion. The partners signed a Joint Development Project (JDP) agreement focused on strengthening system architecture, redundancy, and battery integration. The project aims to develop technical guidelines to facilitate the widespread adoption of this emerging technology in the LNG carrier market.
