Representatives from 14 countries, including Ecuador, virtually participated in the methodological meeting of the XV Americas Maritime Accident Investigation Forum (AMAIF XV), organized from Managua, Nicaragua. The meeting allowed for addressing organizational aspects for the development of this regional activity.
The forum took place from September 7 to 10, 2026, and brought together specialists to strengthen maritime accident investigation, the exchange of best practices, and capacity building. The initiative seeks to raise safety standards and protect the marine environment.
During the meeting, Colombia presented its candidacy to assume the presidency of the next edition. The activity reaffirms the regional commitment to international cooperation and capacity building to improve navigation safety and protect human life at sea.
