Aegean Shipping Management has successfully increased its cargo capacity, which, including the VLCC vessels under construction, now reaches 2.5 million tons.
This increase is part of an ongoing fleet expansion and renewal process by the company, which also allows it to maintain an average vessel age of under three years.
In line with new vessel orders, Aegean exercised an option it had available for the construction of a second VLCC at the Hengli Heavy Industry shipyards in China.
The initial agreement between Aegean Shipping and Hengli was announced at the inauguration of Posidonia 2026 and marked the company's entry into the VLCC category, a strategy that expands its presence in the crude oil shipping sector.
At the same time, the company is in a period of new tanker deliveries. At the end of July 2026, it received the LR2 tanker Green Liberty at the Cosco Yangzhou shipyard. This was the first of four units that the company will progressively incorporate into its fleet in the coming months.
