The Barbados-flagged general cargo vessel Wilson Saimaa collided with a quay in the channel connecting to Lake Vänern near Vänersborg, Sweden, on 11 May. No injuries or pollution were reported.

The incident occurred at around 6 pm local time while carrying a cargo of quicklime. The fire and rescue service, along with the police, arrived at the scene to assist the vessel. The Swedish Transport Agency deployed divers to inspect, and two holes in the hull were discovered as a result of the collision.
Authorities confirmed that no water ingress or pollution was reported following the incident. Police are continuing to investigate the case on suspicion of gross negligence affecting maritime traffic; however, the captain, who had initially been arrested, is no longer considered a suspect.
