Svitzer has appointed Matthew Gordon as Managing Director in the UK, where he will oversee an operation comprising more than 75 tugs and support vessels and around 800 people across 10 ports.
The executive has extensive experience in the maritime services sector, having served as Managing Director of North Star, held the same position for the UK at Atlantic Offshore, and a similar role at Vroon Offshore Services, which has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of client needs and expectations.
"The UK is Svitzer's primary market, highly competitive and complex. I am confident that Matt, with his experience, leadership skills, and personality, will make a positive difference for Svitzer, our employees, and our customers," stated Arjen Van Dijk, Managing Director of Svitzer Europe.
"Port congestion, larger vessel sizes, and extreme weather conditions pose a challenge to the maritime supply chain. Svitzer offers a unique value proposition that addresses this situation, ensuring the continuity of operations. I look forward to collaborating with clients to strengthen maritime infrastructure, which is fundamental for society and the economy," said Matthew Gordon himself.
The new Managing Director of the maritime and towage solutions provider will assume his new role on October 5, 2026.
