Portchain and X-Press Feeders announced a strategic alliance to provide digital solutions to the short-sea shipping market through the implementation of Portchain Connect. This collaboration marks the expansion of the format in the sector, leveraging its implementation in the main line and short-sea vessel market, and reflects X-Press Feeders' commitment to digitalization and sustainability.
The project will optimize berth alignment through real-time data exchange, improving just-in-time (JIT) arrivals and overall operational efficiency. By leveraging Portchain's innovative digital tools, X-Press Feeders seeks to enhance planning accuracy and operational responsiveness, which will contribute to lower fuel consumption and associated emission reductions.
This initiative will also strengthen collaboration with terminal operators by providing a shared digital platform for berth planning. The digital integration offered by Portchain and X-Press Feeders will streamline coordination, resulting in more accurate scheduling and reduced waiting times.
By providing reliable, real-time information, terminals and shipping companies will be able to better align their operations with vessel schedules, minimizing disruptions and improving overall productivity. This digital transformation will help terminals achieve more efficient berth planning, reduce operational costs, and contribute to a more sustainable maritime industry.
"Feeder vessels are crucial for the reliability of supply chains and the efficiency of terminals and ports. The collaboration with X-Press Feeders demonstrates the adaptability and potential of our solutions to support the feeder vessel market. This collaboration represents a significant step in our shared commitment, with X-Press Feeders, to operational excellence and sustainability across the shipping industry," said Craig Halford, VP of Sales at Portchain.
"Efficient port calls depend on close coordination between shipping lines and terminals. By working with Portchain, we are strengthening berth planning across our network, which helps reduce unnecessary waiting times and improve punctuality. These efficiency improvements contribute to lower fuel consumption and associated emission reductions, reinforcing our commitment to our decarbonization process," stated Captain Vijayachelvan Silva Raju, Global Operations Director at X-Press Feeders.
